Please read the submission guidelines before submitting your work for consideration in Aries! You will find the link to the official Aries email, where submissions are being taken, at the bottom of the page.

Who can submit?

  • If you are a Texas Wesleyan student, alumni, faculty, or staff member, you are eligible to submit to Aries!

What can be submitted?

  • Writing: Short stories, poetry, personal essays, academic essays, screen/stage play scripts, etc.

  • Visual Art: drawing, photography, painting, sculpture, collage, digital art, etc.

Submission guidelines?

  • All work must be original and unpublished. In other words, no fanfiction/fanart (or anything along that line in any medium), no AI, and nothing you have published in another venue.

  • All creative pieces must have a title; no “untitled” submissions.

  • All published work will be published with the creator’s name. We will not publish work attributed to “anonymous.” You may use a pen name.

  • Editors will judge submissions anonymously. Your name and/or identifying information must not appear anywhere in the file you submit, but should be included in the body of your submission email. Entries that do not follow these guidelines may not be considered.

  • You may submit entries in as many categories as desired.

  • You may submit up to 5 works in each category. This means you may submit up to 5 works of writing and up to 5 works of visual art for a total of up to 10 submissions per person across categories.

  • When you submit your work for consideration, you grant Aries one-time publication rights for both paper and online formats. This means that if you publish the work somewhere else, you must acknowledge Aries as the first place of publication.

  • When you submit your work for consideration, you grant the Aries staff the right to make minor editorial changes as necessary.

  • Aries reserves the right to quote or display work accepted for publication in order to promote the magazine in flyers, advertisements, and other materials.

  • Editorial decisions regarding inclusion in the publication are final.

  • Submissions are welcome year-round; resubmission of previously rejected work is encouraged. Aries will be published twice this academic year.

  • The deadline for inclusion for the Fall 2025 issue is November 3, 2025.

Ethics Statement:
Aries is a platform for art and creative expression. We welcome any subject matter your work explores with depth and authenticity (yes, your work can include swear words). However, we will not accept work that relies on excessive shock value, which includes inappropriately graphic violence and/or blatant pornography. We will not accept work that is hateful (racist, misogynist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, etc.) We recommend that you create and consume art and literature with an open mind and heart.

Publication and Prizes:

The works selected for publication in Aries will be published online and in print. An honorarium will be awarded to the best submission in each category. Editors' decisions are final.
